March for Meals

March For Meals is an annual nationwide campaign designed to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action at the local level. March For Meals raise awareness through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment efforts and fundraising initiatives. Meals On Wheels Association of America is the oldest and largest national organization composed of and representing local, community based Senior Nutrition Programs in all 50 states, as well as the U.S Territories.

Mayors For Meals is an initiative part of March For Meals where mayors and local elected officials deliver meals to help bring awareness to senior hunger. These individuals deliver meals on one day in March to show their support of their local Senior Nutrition Program. In 2012, over 1,500 mayors and elected officials volunteered. Mayor Annise Parker will join IM's Meals on Wheels to serve Houston seniors on March 22nd.

Interfaith Ministries' Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston program provides a home delivered meal to home-bound seniors over 60. The program also delivers breakfast and weekend meals to the most frail and isolated seniors. The nutritional support helps seniors stay independent and in their own homes.
