Hurricane season kicked off on June 1st! In our role in Disaster Preparedness and Response we are responsible for channeling the faith community's interest and work. We do this in many ways all year long, hosting our H.O.W. READY training events which help congregations get prepared; we sit on a number of community-wide committees and councils; and we have a seat at TranStar, Harris County's central office of disaster management. Our manager, Jennifer Posten, is ready to act on a moment's notice.
So mark your calendars for Saturday, June 19th for the 2010 Hurricane Workshop, the annual City of Houston hurricane conference at the GRB. IM has been a partner and contributor to this conference since its inception. At this all day event, which is open and free to the entire community, you will have many opportunities to learn state of the art techniques for hurricane planning for your own family and for your congregation.
